Anterique Ballpoint Pen End Piece Black
The Anterique BP1 is a two-piece Japanese ballpoint pen whose barrel can be separated into a front section and rear section. This rear section in black with gold accents forms the rear grip area – lightweight, smoothly polished and pleasantly cool to the touch. The design takes inspiration from American ballpoint pens of the 1960s; the form is unfussy and timeless, without feeling retro.
Features
- Two-piece push-fit system: The rear section and front section are pushed together. This allows you to combine both parts in different colours or replace them individually – for example if the rear section is damaged or you'd like a different colour combination.
- Refill not included: The refill sits exclusively in the front section. The rear section is purely a housing component – ideal as a replacement or for creating a custom configuration.
- Lightweight ABS plastic: The barrel remains comfortable in your hand even during long writing sessions without fatigue. The subtle weight of the plastic gives the pen a balanced feel without top-heaviness.
- Black with gold accents: Deep matte black meets gold-coloured details – a calm, elegant combination that works both in the office and in everyday notebook use.
- Made in Japan: Precise fit between front and rear sections, typical of Japanese manufacturing quality in writing instruments.
Use & Tips
- Replacement part for wear: If you use the front section intensively and want to replace the rear section – for instance due to scratches or discolouration – this is the right replacement.
- Colour combinations: The Anterique BP1 system thrives on versatility. The black rear section can be combined with different-coloured front sections to create a personalised two-tone pen.
- Compatible with low-viscosity oil ink: The Anterique system uses an oil-based refill with so-called Mach-Ball ink – particularly smooth, with a fine 0.5 mm tip and clear, smudge-resistant line. The rear section is compatible with all BP1 front sections that use this refill.
- Not archival: The oil-based ballpoint refill of the Anterique BP1 is not suitable for archival applications.
For Ballpoint Enthusiasts
The BP1 system from Anterique follows a modular philosophy that is unusual in the Japanese writing instrument market: the front section and rear section are available separately and interchangeable. The Mach-Ball ink works with a built-in spring mechanism in the refill tip that precisely regulates ink flow and delivers consistent writing even with varying writing pressure. The barrel is made from polished ABS plastic – a material deliberately chosen by Anterique to keep the weight low and the tactile experience pleasantly smooth.
