The Anterique grip section BP1 in Bordeaux with gold accents features an oil-based ballpoint refill with a 0.5 mm tip and low-viscosity ink – what Anterique calls their Mach-Ball technology. The plastic body feels light and cool, yet its 10 mm diameter sits comfortably in your hand. The design is inspired by American ballpoints from the 1960s – straightforward and free of unnecessary details.

Features

  • Low-viscosity oil-based ink: The Mach-Ball refill flows significantly more evenly than classic ballpoint ink – no blotting when you start writing, no smudging as you write. Your script remains clean and precise even when writing quickly.
  • Spring-loaded refill mechanism: A built-in spring in the refill tip regulates ink flow and prevents leaking – even if the pen sits unused for extended periods.
  • 0.5 mm writing tip: The ultra-fine ball point enables a thin, even line – ideal for small handwriting, tight line spacing and precise notes.
  • Bordeaux with gold details: The deep, rich Bordeaux on the grip section is complemented by gold accents – a warm, subtly elegant colour play that stands out clearly from typical office colours.
  • Two-part system: The grip section can be combined with a matching Anterique end cap. Colours and parts can be freely mixed and matched.
  • Lightweight plastic body: The barrel is made from plastic – pleasantly light during long writing sessions, without rattling or giving way.
  • Not permanent: The oil-based refill is not permanent and not archival – suitable for everyday and work notes, not for permanent documents.

Use & Tips

  • Bullet journalling and planners: The fine 0.5 mm line works well in tight layouts and small boxes. The fluid ink allows you to write quickly without interruption.
  • Daily notes: For sticky notes, to-do lists and margin notes – the slim line saves space and remains legible even on small surfaces.
  • Combining with Anterique end caps: The grip section can be paired with end caps from the LUIBAN range, for example in transparent or black. This creates individual colour combinations with a single set.
  • Refill replacement: The refill can be replaced with an Anterique spare refill once it runs out – the grip section remains permanently usable.
  • Paper recommendation: On smooth, ink-resistant paper, the low-viscosity ink really shines: the line appears more vibrant, dries quickly and shows barely any show-through.

For Ballpoint Enthusiasts

Anterique's BP1 series features an oil-based ink with extremely low viscosity – internally called Mach-Ball ink. Unlike classic ballpoint inks, which increase ball resistance through high viscosity, this ink flows with minimal pressure. An integrated spring in the refill tip regulates ink flow whilst preventing leaking when the pen is at rest. The result is a 0.5 mm line with a pronounced initial contour that neither smudges nor breaks – even on medium-weight papers. The two-part concept of grip section and end cap was developed and manufactured in Japan.
