Uni-ball ZENTO Gel Pen 0.38 Fluorite
The uni-ball ZENTO Flow Model in Fluorite is a Japanese rollerball pen with water-based pigment ink and a long aluminum grip. The shaft and anodized metal grip share the same muted tone, named after the mineral fluorite, giving the pen a calm, modern character. At the center is the specially developed ZENTO ink, which thanks to an incorporated surfactant (POA) significantly reduces writing friction while still producing clean, precise lines.
Features
- ZENTO ink with cushion effect: A POA surfactant acts as a buffer between the ball and paper and reduces writing friction by approximately 40% according to the manufacturer compared to previous uni products. The stroke flows evenly and without stuttering, even over longer writing distances.
- Attraction Particles: Special particles draw the ink together and reduce fraying and bleed-through on the back of the paper. On smooth, calendered paper, sharp, saturated black lines are created.
- Pigment-based black ink: Water-based and quick-drying.
- Anodized aluminum grip: The long metal grip feels cool and firm and matches the shaft in tone, a two-tone design from a single cast.
- Movable clip: The color-matched clip securely holds the pen on notebooks, planners, or notepads.
- Click mechanism: One-handed operation, the tip is immediately ready to use, no cap needed.
- Refillable: Compatible with the ZENTO refill UBR-Z-38 (0.38 mm), which you can find here.
Application & Tips
- Notes and journaling: The 0.38 mm tip produces a fine, precise line, ideal for tight grids, small handwriting, and densely written pages in A5 notebooks and planners.
- Paper recommendation: The ZENTO ink reaches its full potential on smooth, ink-fast paper. On highly absorbent paper, such as uncoated recycled paper, the line may appear somewhat wider.
- With highlighters: Water-based highlighters can dissolve the writing. Let the ink dry well and test your highlighters first on an inconspicuous spot.
- Handling: The aluminum grip is smooth. For those who want more grip during extended writing, it's best to hold the pen a bit higher.
- Getting to know ZENTO: If you want to try the ZENTO ink first, we also have the more affordable standard model with a long rubber grip. It uses the same ink system and the same refill refills.
