After tanning, the hides are stretched, smoothed, air-dried and then dressed and dyed in a barrel to their own recipe. Mocha brown is an actively applied colour on the basis of this naturally-tanned bovine leather – the leather's underlying structure remains open and breathable. Because every hide comes with individual scars, veins and density variations, no two patina developments are identical in use. The lining is hard-wearing twill fabric that gives the compartments stability without noticeably adding to overall weight.
