Midori Diary hibino 2027 pink (A6)
The Midori Diary hibino 2027 in Pink is a daily planner in A6 format with the "2 pages per day" principle: each day gets a complete double spread, where appointments, notes, thoughts and sketches have room to coexist. The inner paper is Tomoe River S Paper – gossamer-thin yet robust enough for fountain pens, gel pens and even wet inks. The cover is structured PVC with gold-foil embossing, cool to the touch and pleasantly grippy in hand.
Features
- 2-pages-per-day layout: The left page features a 24-hour timeline, day of the week, moon phase icon and weather icons – ideal for structured daily planning without rigid constraints. The right page is a subtly printed 2.5 mm dot grid that supports writing, sketching and pasting equally well.
- Tomoe River S Paper: The ultra-thin paper from Sanzen is celebrated among fountain pen enthusiasts for its exceptional ink permanence: fountain pen inks don't bead up but dry clear and sharp. Sheening inks develop particularly vibrant sheen effects on this surface. Despite 768 pages, the volume remains surprisingly slim and light.
- Thread binding for flat opening: The thread-bound binding allows the planner to open completely flat on every page – the entire double spread lies without a bulge, making it possible to write right into the gutter.
- Structured PVC cover in Pink: The matte, slightly velvety surface mimics soft leather whilst being water-resistant and flexible. The muted rosy tone is calm and clear – not a garish pink, but a soft, pale dusty rose.
- Two ribbon bookmarks: For areas frequently used simultaneously – the current day page and monthly overview – both ribbons can be set independently.
- Yearly calendar, Future Log, monthly blocks: The structured front section (December 2026 to January 2028) allows planning beyond the actual calendar year.
Use & Tips
- Fountain pen on Tomoe River S: Fine to medium nibs (EF, F, M) perform particularly well on this paper – ink flows clearly without feathering. For broad or stub nibs, it's worth allowing some extra drying time, as the paper is very smooth.
- Timeline as anchor: The 24-hour line on the left works as a fixed daily structure anchor: write in appointments, use the rest of the left page for to-dos – the right page remains free for journalling or sketches.
- Sheening inks: Tomoe River S Paper showcases the shimmer effect of sheening inks particularly beautifully. Inks with gold, red or green sheen reveal their full potential here.
- White fountain pen ink: On the cream-coloured Tomoe River S Paper, white fountain pen inks have limited opacity – gel pens or highlighter colours are better suited for contrast highlights.
- Collage & mixed media: The thin paper accepts tape and light stickers well. Heavy newspaper clippings or copious amounts of liquid adhesive can show through – washi tape or wax adhesive are the gentler option.
- Monthly and yearly planning combined: The Future Log at the front can serve as an overview for projects and travel, while the daily pages document actual day-to-day events – two planning levels in one volume.
For Paper Enthusiasts
Tomoe River S Paper (Sanzen) has been used in the Hibino since the 2024 edition redesign – an updated version of the legendary Tomoe River Paper, known for its extreme thinness whilst maintaining high tear resistance. The paper is so light that 768 pages generate barely more volume than an ordinary 200-page notebook. For calligraphers, the paper is only partially suitable: broad nibs with very wet inks require significantly longer drying times, and water-based inks can easily cause buckling – for fountain pens with standard ink and gel pens, however, it's one of the most pleasant writing surfaces available.
