The Kaweco AL Sport Raw is a mechanical pencil crafted from untreated, solid aluminium – manufactured using CNC technology in the classic octagonal Sport shape. The raw aluminium develops a unique patina over time, making each pencil one-of-a-kind. The push mechanism is sourced from Japan and operates with precise, smooth lead advancement; the 0.7 mm lead stays securely guided at all times and requires no sharpening.

• Sketching and Drawing: 0.7 mm HB is ideal for quick drafts and structural drawings. On smooth, calendered paper, the lead glides effortlessly and leaves an even, medium-dark line.
• Hand Lettering and Layouts: Perfect for preliminary sketches before inking or writing in pen – the line erases cleanly without roughening the paper.
• On the Move and in Daily Use: The compact format makes the Sport Raw the ideal companion in calendars, notebooks, or pocket-sized planners. Simply pop it in your pocket, no sharpening needed.
• Deliberately Shaping the Patina: The raw aluminium reacts to skin oils and acids – if you wish, you can lightly brush the surface with fine steel wool to matte or polish it, allowing you to influence the ageing process.
• Lead Refills: The eraser under the push cap can be removed; new 0.7 mm leads (HB or other grades) can be loaded through the tube.

For Pen Enthusiasts

The AL Sport Raw comes from the same production line as the other AL Sport models: CNC-machined solid aluminium, then polished – but the Raw finish receives no further surface treatment. This makes it the only model in the range that actively responds to touch, light and environment. If you own multiple AL Sport pencils, after months of use you'll notice how the grip zone develops differently from the rest of the barrel. The Japanese mechanism is identical to the other AL Sport mechanical pencils and accepts standard 0.7 mm leads in common grades of hardness.
