Kaweco Ballpoint Pen Sport Bordeaux

The Kaweco Classic Sport ballpoint in Bordeaux is a pocket-sized ballpoint made from ABS plastic that brings the 1935 design into everyday use today. The octagonal housing in deep wine red, gold logo cap and gold hot-foil embossing give the pen its unmistakable character. Operating principle: pull off the cap, place it on the rear end – the pen extends to a writing-ready 13 cm. Manufactured and assembled in Germany.

Features

• Octagonal Bordeaux housing: The angular ABS plastic profile sits comfortably in the hand and prevents rolling on smooth surfaces. The deep, wine-red colour remains stable over years.
• Heart curve mechanism: The refill extends silently and without play – no rattling, no jerking when extending. For precise writing straight from your pocket.
• D1 ballpoint refill: The standard D1 refill is available in various line widths (0.8 mm, 1.0 mm, 1.2 mm) and colours (blue, black, red) and can be changed in seconds. Refills from other manufacturers in D1 format also fit.
• Metal tip: The refill shaft ends in a metal tip that provides stable guidance when writing and significantly increases the lifespan of the barrel at the stressed point.
• Gold embellishments: Logo cap and hot-foil embossing in gold create a striking contrast with the Bordeaux-coloured housing.
• Pocket format: At 13 cm in length (cap attached), the pen fits into any trouser pocket and compact notebook case.
• Made in Germany: Manufactured and assembled in Nuremberg, with individual inspection of every pen.

Use & Tips

• Daily use on the go: The short barrel slides effortlessly into shirt or trouser pocket. For quick notes, shopping lists or signatures, the Sport is the writing instrument that's always within reach.
• In your notebook setup: The Classic Sport fits the slots of many A6 and A5 format notebooks. For those maintaining a compact carry-EDC, this is a pen that makes no demands on size or weight.
• Refill changes for different applications: The standard blue D1 refill (1.0 mm) writes cleanly and evenly on smooth, calendered paper as well as normal office paper. For finer handwriting, the 0.8 mm variant is recommended; for generous scripts, the 1.2 mm refill.
• Retrofit a clip: The Classic Sport is supplied without a clip. Kaweco clips in gold, silver, bronze and black can be slid onto the cap afterwards, transforming the pen into a shirt-pocket companion.
• Document authenticity: Standard ballpoint paste is not document-permanent. For records that must be archived, use a specifically marked document-permanent D1 refill.

For Kaweco Enthusiasts

The Classic Sport series sold today is based on the 1935 design – that octagonal profile that Kaweco developed for ladies, gentlemen in evening dress and sportspeople who needed a pen so compact when closed that it never gets in the way, yet grows into a fully-fledged writing length when the cap is attached. Current production in Nuremberg relies on hand assembly and individual inspection; the ABS plastic is lighter than aluminium variants in the Sport family and gives the pen its characteristic, lightweight feel. The D1 refill is an international standard – those who tinker will find fast-drying or oil-based refill options from third-party manufacturers in this format that work without any problems.
