NKcalendar Mini Wall Planner 2027 Obi-Wan

The NKcalendar Mini Wall Calendar 2027 is a collaboration between Japanese calendar specialist NK Shinnippon and popular illustrator Obi-Wan. Twelve monthly calendar pages in retro-pop style, printed in a compact 260 × 130 mm format – narrow enough for tight wall spaces, empty shelves or the fridge. Each page features a unique illustration that continues to work as a small artwork once removed.

Features

• Retro-pop illustrations by Obi-Wan: Japanese illustrator Obi-Wan combines everyday scenes with warm, nostalgic colour palettes – bold shapes, reduced lines, a style reminiscent of Japanese graphic design aesthetics from the 70s and 80s. Each month receives its own distinctive motif.
• Monthly format with perforation: Each calendar sheet has a perforation underneath, allowing for clean removal. The detached pages are perfect for framing, inserting into a planner or using as postcards.
• Compact portrait format 260 × 130 mm: The narrow format fits in spaces where a standard A4 calendar would be too wide – door frames, narrow wall strips next to desks, noticeboards in shared kitchens.
• Collaboration with NK Shinnippon: NK Shinnippon (New Japan Calendar) has produced calendars for the Japanese market for decades and regularly works with illustrators and designers. Print quality is optimised for rich colour reproduction.

Use & Tips

• Wall or shelf: The calendar can be hung or displayed – ideal for desks with limited wall space or as a decorative element on a bookshelf.
• Reusing the illustrations: The perforated pages fit standard mounts for 10 × 20 cm or can be used as cover design for hand-bound notebooks.
• Complement to your planner: If you use an A5 or Hobonichi planner, you can glue the detached monthly pages in as seasonal markers or lay them next to your planner as a reference card for the current month.
• Gift and give-away: The narrow format and clear visual concept make the calendar a straightforward gift for paper and Japan enthusiasts.

For Calendar and Illustration Lovers

Obi-Wan is well known in the Japanese stationery scene for a style that combines elements of retro graphic design with contemporary simplicity – clearly structured compositions, a deliberately limited colour palette per motif and everyday scenes that gain their own atmosphere through the illustrator's perspective. NK Shinnippon brings these illustrations to print quality that is unusually detailed for a calendar of this format. Those who follow Obi-Wan's work will find a compact yearly overview of new motifs in the mini wall calendar – unlike limited postcard sets, calendars are often the first place where new illustration series appear.
