The Toyo Stacking Box T-190 is a shallow storage box made from blue powder-coated sheet steel – manufactured in Osaka, Japan. Both the lid and base are deep-drawn from a single piece of steel with no welded seams, giving the box its characteristic robustness whilst remaining lightweight. The cool, smooth feel of the steel and the understated blue tone make it an object you'll want to display openly on your desk or shelf.

Features

  • Single-piece deep-drawn steel sheet: No welded seams, no burrs – the box is structurally homogeneous and therefore durable without weak points at joints.
  • One-touch closure: The side snap lock opens and closes with a single action – handy when both hands are busy or you frequently reach into the box.
  • Embossed top and bottom (negative/positive embossing): The embossed surfaces interlock when stacking and prevent stacked boxes from slipping – even on smooth surfaces.
  • Rounded edges: All outer edges are rounded – no sharp edges when gripping, even if your hand reaches into the box quickly.
  • Powder coating in blue: The matte, uniform finish is more scratch-resistant than wet paint and maintains its colour even with regular use.
  • Compact flat format: 195 × 95 × 50 mm – flat enough to stack multiple boxes on top of each other without consuming much vertical space.

Use & Tips

  • Desk organiser: The length of 195 mm comfortably holds rulers, nibs, ink converters, erasers and short scissors side by side – everything at a glance, no rummaging needed.
  • Pen box for calligraphy supplies: Stub nibs, holders, oblique holders and small ink bottles find a safe, secure place here; the one-touch closure keeps contents together during transport.
  • Stacking system by category: Multiple T-190 boxes stacked – one for pencils, one for ink cartridges, one for tools. The embossing keeps the tower stable, yet individual boxes can be removed effortlessly.
  • Travel and workshop use: The closed closure secures contents even in a bag or backpack – no accidental opening on the go.
  • Storage for small parts: Screws, eyelets, miniature parts for bookbinding or sewing supplies – the flat box gives instant overview without searching through bags or drawers.

For Organisation and Materials Enthusiasts

Toyo Steel was the first company worldwide to use deep-drawing technology to manufacture seamless steel tool boxes from a single sheet blank. The T-190 has won the Good Design Award and the Long Life Design Award – not for aesthetics alone, but because form and function are inseparable: the embossing is both decoration and stacking mechanism, the curve of the lid guides the eye and reinforces rigidity. Toyo Steel today holds around 70% of the Japanese market for steel tool boxes.
