The Hobonichi Pocket Planner Weeks Smooth: Lavender Milk for 2027 is a slim weekly planner in a long wallet format – compact enough for a jacket pocket, yet spacious enough for a full week's planning. The soft polyurethane cover sits comfortably in your hand and yields gently whilst writing. Inside: cream-coloured Tomoe River S paper that captures every pen stroke precisely, despite its thinness.

Features

• Soft Smooth polyurethane cover: The slightly flexible surface feels velvety and pleasantly cool to the touch. Unlike rigid hardboard covers, the Smooth cover adapts to your hand shape – practical when writing while standing or on the move.
• Lavender Milk – a gentle, understated colour: This milky lavender is a muted, delicate purple with white undertones – neither pastel-bright nor cool-grey, but calm and distinctive. The year's embossed print on the cover adds a subtle accent.
• Tomoe River S paper (cream): Since 2025, all Hobonichi planners feature Tomoe River S from Sanzen – even more bleed-resistant than its predecessor whilst maintaining the same thickness and a particularly smooth surface. Fountain pens, gel pens and fineliners glide across it cleanly and without resistance – with minimal show-through.
• Weekly double-page spread with grid page: On the left, seven days of the week (Monday through Sunday) in horizontal rows. On the right, a full grid page – freely usable as a sketch area, task list or journal page. The 3.55 mm grid of fine, broken lines stays in the background.
• English-language edition: All text elements – daily quotes from the Hobonichi web magazine, monthly calendars, reference pages – are in English. Dates use international numerals.
• 73 free grid note pages at the back of the book – in addition to the weekly structure, for project notes, lists or freeform entries.
• Two page ribbons allow you to mark two frequently used pages simultaneously – such as the current week and your ongoing notes page.
• Transparent adhesive pocket (included): A self-adhesive clear corner pocket can be attached inside the cover – for notes, tickets or small sheets of stickers.

Use & Tips

• Fountain pens and Tomoe River S: The paper displays ink colours brilliantly – sheen inks and shimmering pigments look stunning on the cream, smooth surface. Plan for drying time: with very ink-rich nibs (stub nibs, flex nibs), a blotting sheet when turning pages is recommended.
• Gel pens and ballpoints: Fast-drying gel refills and oil-based ballpoint ink work on Tomoe River S without waiting – ideal for quickly jotting down appointments.
• Weekly planning with the right page as a logbook: The grid page works as a daily bullet journal log, tracking grid or idea collection – the week on the left remains free for pure scheduling information.
• Use a writing pad: Since Tomoe River S is very thin, pen pressure can transfer to the next page. A thin writing pad (Shitajiki) under the page you're writing on prevents this.
• Format for on the go: At approximately 95 × 188 mm, the planner fits into any jacket pocket or slim envelope slot. Weighing under 140 g, it's a daily companion without any burden.
• Additional cover options: This Smooth planner is not compatible with the transparent Hobonichi Weeks Clear Covers – however, separate covers from the Hobonichi Weeks range will fit and allow you to change materials or add extra storage pockets.

For Planner Enthusiasts

The Tomoe River S paper, used in all Hobonichi planners since 2025, comes from Sanzen and is an evolution of the original Tomoegawa paper: the fibre structure has been refined, resulting in an even smoother surface and improved bleed-through resistance compared to the previous generation. The pH-neutral, acid-free character makes the paper archival – entries won't yellow. The Weeks' 3.55 mm grid is the finest in the Hobonichi range (the A6 models use 3.7 mm, the Planner 4 mm) and allows for denser writing on the compact page – which, despite the narrow format, offers almost as much space as the A6 Original.
