Hobonichi Pocket Planner 2027 Weeks Colors: Sea Glass (engl.)
The Hobonichi Techo Weeks Colors 2027 in Sea Glass is a bound weekly planner in a slim landscape format – roughly the size of a long wallet and one of the most compact everyday companions in the Hobonichi range. The cover belongs to the Colors series: a bookbinding fabric in a muted, cool sea glass green that evokes water-polished, matte driftglass – neither pastel nor vibrant, but calm and mineral. Inside, Tomoe River paper is used, cream-coloured and renowned for its exceptional ink resistance combined with minimal weight.
Features
- Colors cover in bookbinding fabric: The textile feels smooth and softly matt, lies comfortably in the hand and resists fingerprints. The Sea Glass colour appears cool grey-green in daylight, more blue-green in artificial light – a tone with considerable depth.
- Tomoe River paper, cream-coloured: Thin, yet tear-resistant. The cream-coloured variant of the Weeks reduces glare and is gentler on the eyes during extended writing. Inks – including wet fountain pen colours – dry more slowly on Tomoe River, but show minimal feathering. Shading behaviour and sheening are displayed beautifully.
- 3.55 mm dot grid: The grid in the Weeks is finer than in the A6 Original (3.7 mm) and is particularly suited to small, dense handwriting as well as tabular entries in the weekly section.
- Weekly layout on the left, open grid space on the right: The left page shows the seven weekdays with horizontal lines; the right page remains as an open grid field for notes, sketches or logs – no preset grid theme.
- Two bookmarks: Allow you to permanently mark two different locations simultaneously – for example, your current weekly plan and a frequently used page in the memo pages at the back.
- Clear adhesive corner pocket (transparent pouch): Included and can be attached to the front or back endpaper – ideal for loose notes, sticker sheets or business cards.
- Serial number on the back cover: Each copy is numbered individually.
- English edition: Month names, weekdays and bonus pages fully in English. No Japanese calendar overhead.
Use & Tips
- Fountain pens on Tomoe River: The paper handles wet nibs very well – ink is kept clean without excessive feathering. Nevertheless, a blotting sheet is recommended when writing with very wet nibs, as drying time is longer than on calendered papers. Stub nibs show particularly beautiful line variation on the cream-coloured background.
- Gel rollers and liquid ink rollerballs: Work exceptionally well on Tomoe River. If you prefer faster writing, opt for a quick-drying gel refill – the paper accepts these cleanly as well.
- Weekly overview plus open page combined: The right page is perfect for a daily log, habit tracker or drawing/sketch space. The 3.55 mm grid is tight enough for small illustrations or bullet-style entries.
- Cover compatibility: The Weeks Colors is complete as is. Optionally, it can be inserted into a separately available Weeks cover – which then includes pen holders and additional pockets.
- Memo pages at the back: For list-keeping, projects, recipes, reading notes – anything that doesn't need a fixed date slot. The pages are throughout printed with the same 3.55 mm dot grid.
- Year overview and monthly calendar: Before the weekly pages you'll find a multi-year overview and a monthly calendar – useful for quarter-based planning or forward planning.
For Tomoe River Enthusiasts
The Weeks uses the cream-coloured variant of Tomoe River paper – not the whiter version from the A6 Original. The cream slightly dampens contrast with black ink and makes coloured inks appear softer. Sheening inks (such as deep red or green fountain pen inks with gold shimmer) benefit from the slightly absorbent character of the paper: the sheen forms at the ink edges without excessive feathering. The paper is not archival – for archive-relevant entries, archival inks should be chosen. The thread-sewn binding allows the book to lie flat on the weekly pages, with light hand pressure at the spine being helpful when writing.
