Carta Pura Writing Pad A4 brown
The Carta Pura notepad A4 brown is a thoughtfully designed writing pad from Munich's Carta Pura paper shop. 50 sheets of Salzer Werkdruck 100 g form the core: an uncoated, machine-smoothed book printing paper in natural white with a subtly textured vellum finish. The brown file cover made from 225 g cardboard gives the pad its warm, purposeful character – and the 2 mm bookbinding board along the spine ensures that even the last sheet has a solid foundation.
Features
- Salzer Werkdruck 100 g, vellum, acid-free: Uncoated paper with a slightly textured vellum surface – the nib grips minimally, which gives particularly good writing feel with stub nibs or flex nibs. Inks flow evenly and dry somewhat faster on the more absorbent surface than on highly smooth paper. The paper is acid-free and therefore archivally stable.
- Natural white paper tone: The creamy natural white colour of Salzer Werkdruck sits between office white and ivory – gentle on the eyes and pleasant during extended writing sessions.
- 2 mm bookbinding board as spine: Unusually sturdy back panel for a notepad of this class. Even on soft or uneven surfaces, the writing surface remains stable – without a desk pad, standing up, or on a clipboard.
- Brown file cover, 225 g: The cover sheet is a classic file board – not printed art cardboard, but a substantial cardboard with its own tactile quality. Protects the paper pages with a pleasantly matt surface.
- Glued at the head: Pages can be cleanly and individually separated without residue or frayed edges.
Use & Tips
- Fountain pen and ink: The vellum surface of Salzer Werkdruck works well with water-based fountain pen inks – even with a broad or stub nib you can write with control. Heavily flowing or very wet inks should be allowed to dry briefly, as the uncoated paper absorbs more ink than coated varieties. The 100 g paper handles bleed-through generously.
- Pencil and fineliner: The lightly textured surface gives pencil excellent grip – shading and lines can be controlled well. Fineliners with pigment-based ink work perfectly.
- Typewriter-paper feeling for handwriting: Those who write in volume and freely – journalling, minutes, drafts – will find in this unruled, acid-free pad a durable medium that also accepts archival storage.
- On the move without a clipboard: The 2 mm backing board makes the pad a fully functional writing surface even away from the desk.
For Paper Enthusiasts
Salzer is one of Europe's major manufacturers of wood-free book printing papers, whose products are particularly used in hardcover book blocks. The Salzer Werkdruck 100 g used here is smooth, vellum and acid-free – classified as writing, drawing and printing paper. Unlike coated papers, it lacks the mineral coating layer: the surface remains slightly rough and more absorbent, which pulls ink pigments more strongly into the paper fibres. For fountain pen inks with highly saturated pigments or strong shimmer properties (sheen), this means: less sheen effect, but richer, drier colour. The natural white tone of Salzer Werkdruck is typical for book printing papers and deliberately not brightened – no optical brightener that fluoresces under UV light.
