Letterpress Labels with red frame (40 pcs.)
Small cards with big impact: These letterpress label cards by Classiky feature a classic red frame created through relief printing using a zinc plate, embossed into the paper surface. Run your finger across the card and you'll feel the subtle indentation of the frame – a tactile quality that makes each card distinctive. The reverse side is intentionally unprinted, offering blank writing space. The set contains 40 individual cards in 47 × 98 mm format, supplied loose.
Features
- Letterpress embossing with zinc plate: The red frame is not printed on, but embossed into the paper. The subtle relief structure is visible to the eye and tactile to the touch – a hallmark of handcrafted letterpress printing, where each card may show minimal, characterful variations.
- Format 47 × 98 mm: Narrow and elongated – fits into standard envelopes, can be glued into journal pages or used as gift tags without taking up much space.
- Unprinted reverse: The smooth, blank reverse side works well as a writing surface for ballpoint pens, fine-liners, pencils or fine felt-tip pens. Fountain pen ink should be tested on this paper quality first.
- Loose individual stack: 40 cards without binding – can be removed individually, distributed, enclosed or sorted without damaging the others.
- Made in Japan: Classiky is based in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, and collaborates with traditional craftspeople throughout Japan.
Use & Tips
- Journal & planner: As a glued element on bullet journal pages, weekly spreads or in Hobonichi notebooks – the red frame adds a structured, calm accent without dominant colour blocking.
- Gift enclosure: When written on with a ballpoint or fine-liner, the card makes an excellent addition to parcels or handwritten letters.
- Labelling jars and storage: The narrow format is perfect for attaching to jam jars, baskets or storage compartments – secured with a strip of washi tape or sticky pad.
- Layering in journaling: The embossed frame stands out visually and tactilely even under a transparent layer (such as clear film or vellum) – interesting for multi-layered page designs.
- Stamping base: The matt paper surface takes stamp ink evenly. Pigment ink pads are recommended for rich, crisp impressions.
For Letterpress Enthusiasts
The embossing is created by the pressure of a zinc relief printing plate (Japanese: 活版印刷, Katsuban Insatsu), where ink and shape are pressed simultaneously into the paper. The result is not a coating applied to the surface, but a structural change in the paper itself – the frame sits noticeably deeper than the rest of the sheet. This very method means no two prints are exactly alike: ink saturation, emboss depth and edge sharpness can vary slightly from card to card. This is not a flaw, but a hallmark of quality handcrafted letterpress printing.
